That's good info. I'm actually in the process of re-mounting my mids and tweets in the dash, and I'm curious if I'd get the same results.

Ran a 2 channel Dirac yesterday on top of my manual tune.

Dirac lowered the right side by -1.6 dB and added 0.35ms of delay, so I gues I wasnt that far off or it was because of a different mic position on the first measurement.
By doing that it moved my center a bit to the left.
Also the spread in the EQ was a lot smaller.

After some listening, I liked what it did to the tonality but not so much how it moved the stage a bit to the left, so I went into the Dirac pluggin and turned of the delay and gain setting. That fixed the issue and now I like it more.
Will keep experimenting with this.
Next up is a multichannel tune post manual setup.

I'm sure Dirac works with the assumption that you're sitting in or near middle of the soundstage. I wonder if there's a way to tell it the true seating position?
So this just happened.

After tuning several cars this weekend with different types of processors, I decided to change my DSP for a Helix DSP Pro MK3.
Should install it over the weekend (just waiting for a Conductor).
So a mint condition MiniDSP C812DL will be showing up in the classifieds pretty soon.
J.
I've been happy with Helix
considered chaining the 8x12dl and helix together? get your FIR filters with dirac and the regular stuff w/ the helix.
Not really.
Dirac is cool, but you can do better with a bit of knowledge and time.
im selling the C812.
What I will try is using the Helix for the “regular” stuff and then the OpenDRC-DI to flatten the phase with FIR’s.
If I like it, it stays.
if not, it will be for sale also.

Had several days of at work so made some small upgrades to the install.
First I printed a holder for the Conductor and the garage door opener.

Second I bought an iPod/IPhone/DAP holder and ran an extra cable.
I usually keep the iPod in the center console, but now people are more used to select tracks in DAPs.
I still connect the iPod to the OEM HU with Bluetooth, so you can still see the track info on the HU and use the steering wheel controls to change tracks.
Will only use this contraption for shows/demos. For daily, the iPod is hidden in the center console.

Last upgrade was the a pillars.
The previous tweeter aiming was a bit too off axis. Measured several orientations with Smaart and found the one I liked the most based on direct vs reflected sound, high frequency response and went from there.
Printed the tweeter mounts. They are held in place with threaded rivets nuts and M5 screws into factory holes in the pillars.

Then cut a bigger hole in the pillar and used metal mesh grill.

And finally covered it all with grill cloth.
